British Car Festival 2011

Last weekend, the British Car Union held the 25th annual, British Car Festival. The festival is a massive gathering of British car enthusiasts from all around the Midwest. This is probably the hardest car show of the year for me because the show is massive, it's blazingly hot, and I really don't know classic British cars.

Pictures from Supercar Saturdays - September 3, 2011

Earlier today was the last Supercar Saturday of 2011. It really did live up to it's name though. Lamborghini of Chicago brought out a white Lamborghini Aventador. I was a little surprised by how many Lambos showed up. The Chevelle SS was probably my favorite car at the show though. I love modified cars and that one was done very well. Another nice one was this Lexus GS300 with a huge turbo. I can only hope that next year is as good as this one was. Here is a sample of some of the pics. The link to the full set is below.

Wekfest in Chicago - August 20, 2011

On the 20th Weksos Industries brought the Wekfest Tour to Chicago. This car show is more different than others because it focuses on appearance (see: Stance) and just being incredibly unique. It is the new wave of import tuners. This leads to an unlikely mix of cars. American cars are rare, but Asian and German cars are everywhere. There is also a healthy mix of old and new cars and cars that can barely make it on Chicago streets, to ones that dominate on the track. It was a good show, but the guys riding bikes and skateboards through the show was pretty annoying. The widebody NSX was amazing, the E30 BMW with Nissan SR engine was confusing, and the panda AE86 was a reminder of why I love modified cars.

Midwest Treffen 15 - August 14, 2011

Last weekend was the Chicago Volkswagen Organizations 15th annual Midwest Treffen. Treffen is one of the largest meetings of VW and Audi enthusiasts in the Midwest. The parking lot at the Oakton Community College was packed, as usual, with VWs and Audis. This year seemed especially light on early Volkswagens and Audis (in general). I think time and brand definition is beginning to split up "the scene."

Italian Village Ferrari Festival 2011

The Ferrari Festival is an annual Italian Buffet that takes place at the Italian Village restaurant in downtown Chicago. You get to see a group of modern and vintage Ferraris and all of proceeds the benefit Children's Memorial Hospital. My favorite car of the day was the Ferrari F40. The F40 is incredibly rare, fast, and still looks amazing. I wish I could have stayed to hear it fire up. My number two would defiantly be the 599 GTB. I think the GTB looks amazing, plus it's a proper, front-engine, V12, Ferrari. I'd jump at the chance to drive any of these cars (except for the one that was leaking radiator fluid).

Yesterday was Supercar Saturdays at The Promenade in Bolingbrook, IL. These is an event where local car enthusiasts meet on the first Saturday of the summer months. This is the place to see some of the nicest cars around Chicago. There was a good turnout yesterday, despite the rain. Below are some cars that showed up.

Pictures from the 2011 DUB Show in Chicago

The DUB Show was back in Chicago on July 16, 2011. The tour skipped Chicago last year, so this one was overdue. The DUB Show is a custom auto show started by DUB Magazine. Cars in the show usually focus on outrageous paint jobs, sound systems, and gigantic rims. The show still has a healthy mix of cars, but the focus is generally on looks. I've seen most of these things before, but I was amazed to find out that you can fit 30" wheels on a car. I took over 200 hundred pictures, so there are plenty of cars and models to see.
