Matt’s Toyota MR2 was a car I first saw many years ago. I’ve had the chance to see it a few times over the last yew years, but it is a car that he was owned since the ’90s. Matt convinced me to come out and shoot his car and it resulted in a set of pictures that differ from my usual style.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My approach was pretty simple, use a long lens to capture dramatic shots of the car. We had this road all to ourselves, so I wanted to get some shots of the car in the center of the road. That style of photograph is not super adventurous, but it was a safe choice since we were quickly running out of sunlight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The shots took a while to setup because of there was not much light at this time of day. The camera had to be setup on a tripod, the position of the car and camera had to be adjusted multiple times, and we had to watch out for traffic. I only a small set of pics at this location, but breaking out the long zoom lens allowed me to capture pictures that are more dramatic than what a person could get on a smartphone. The long lens compresses the background on the images and makes things look more dramatic, the background is blurred out in natural way, and the full frame sensor on the camera results in a high-resolution photo that can be printed in large formats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
