I made my way to the Chicago Auto show again this year this year and focused on special editions and any other cars that I found cool or just unique. I tend to focus a lot on the European cars, but it’s not my fault; they just bring cooler cars. I think I got a good mix of the cars. You can see some of my favorites below, but the entire set of pics is here.
Kia brought two custom Stringers to the show. The one that really caught my eye was a blue widebody done by West Coast Customs. The wide fenders were blended so well with the car’s shape and the blue looked good without being obnoxious.
Lamboghini does not officially bring cars to the show, but there were a few cars that were part of the Supercar Gallery that they do every year. There was one Lamborghini Huracan that I really loved. The Huracan is a beautiful car, but the gold wheels and matte finish on the car really set it apart.
When I got to the show, I made a beeline to the Porsche section, and I was not disappointed. Porsche had a 911 GT2 RS on display. It is the most expensive, and powerful, car in the 911 line. The car has technology that usually only ends up on race cars, but it is more powerful than many dedicated race cars. It is a ridiculous car in many ways, but I love that it exists.
Audi had a Eurropeaon model of the RS 5 on display, and that car looked very sharp. The chassis does not look very different from the shape of the original Audi A5, but it had the understated style that Germans are great at. It looks like a luxury car that is special, but it’s not obvious that has muscle car performance.
The Cadillac Escala was the concept car that really stood out to me. Cadillac does a great job with designing the large concept cars. The designs usually get scaled down and adapted to normal-sized cars, but they are still fun to look at.
