You may have noticed that I have started changing over the pages on this BenLevy.com over to a new format. Earlier this year I started looking into the use of server-side languages and decided that in the future I wanted to have my whole site using php. From then on I started using php pages for new content.

I started by using the php date function to automatically update the copyright year. The next steps were to add a php home page that automatically pulled the latest blog posts and pictures from my gallery. The new changes I’m doing now allow me to make global changes by making changes to the pages that are included on content pages.

The coolest thing I think I have done is the Auto section with pictures from auto shows. I created a function that goes to a specified directory and returns only gif or jpeg files from the directory. The result is a page that shows a thumbnail preview of the auto show and the chances of seeing the same combinations twice are less than one in a quintillion.

The pics and blog sections are going to be the most difficult to redesign (because they have both been modded and use complex css). I also have to index all of the Treffen pictures plus Battle of the Imports is in less than 3 weeks.
