This weekend Motive Magazine invited readers to preview the new BMW 1-series that is going on sale in the US in the next few weeks. Since the early ‘90s, the BMW 3-series has become more expensive and gotten larger. The 1-series coupe is the answer for people that want a car that is closer to the BMW 2002. Most of the attention is going the 135i which gets a twin turbo inline 6 cylinder engine rated at 300 horsepower. I think it has more power than they say though, because I haven’t felt power like that since I was in a Corvette. The Motive guys enjoyed the non-turbo 128i a lot too. They described the 128i’s engine as being more “rev-happy” and a better fir for the chassis. Both cars are nice inside and out. The only downside is that there isn’t much space for rear passengers.
