Hot Import Nights in Chicago was almost a month ago, but I never got around to the details. The show was about as loud, crowded, and dark as I’ve come to expect, but it also JDM and high-end Euro cars. Skylines are seen in the US more and more, but I was surprised to see a Nissan Skyline Sedan with an engine bay that was cleaner than most car interiors. There was also an R33 Skyline GT-R I hadn’t seen before as well as everyone’s favorite blue R34 GT-R. There were actually 2 different S15 Silvias at the show. There were plenty of Porsches and BMWs at HIN too. My favorite Porsches were probably the White 911 GT3 and the RUF R Turbo (who could have expected to see that). The show was nice, overall, but I’m looking forward to Nightshift.

HIN 2007 Highlights:

Supercharged BMW M3
White Infiniti G35

Red Honda S2000

Drift Day 14 was two weeks ago at the Autobahn Country Club in Joliet, and it was great. I have been to drift events before, but it was nice to be able to get so close to the cars. Since DD14 wasn’t a pro event there were a lot of drives that weren’t really able to pull off a drift or losing control. Drift Day is all about having fun and learning, and you still get to see a sideways smoke show. While I expected varying skill levels, I was surprised by the state that the cars (mostly Nissan 240SXs) were in. Some of the cars were nearly flawless while others had their fair share of battle scars. You should check out my Drift Day 14 page because there are so many great pictures there you won’t get is all from this post.

DD14 Highlights:

Toyota Supra Drift
Purple Nissan 240SX
Z31 Nissan 300ZX Turbo

I have also added a photography page to the about section. That is the easy way to get the “best of” the automotive pictures. I also added a music page that tracks any new music I’m listening to.
