In the past month I have seen a lot of the USA. Tom and I had a road trip from Chicago to Arizona. A couple of weeks after that long drive, I had a short trip to Boston. I had never been to the Southwest or Boston before so it was all pretty cool.

We made a stop in St. Louis because neither of us had ever actually stopped there to see the sights. St. Louis is small, but has plenty of charm. It’s pretty easy to stroll around downtown because things aren’t too far from each other. I’d love to go back some time when I had more time.

After a long drive through Middle America, we finally stopped in Dallas. We’ve all heard things about Texas, but I was still surprised. The young people didn’t seem to identify with Texas that much. It seemed like a lot had just moved to Dallas because of a job opportunity. The people were nice overall, but the city can’t really handle the demand for hip places to go out at night.

While driving through central Texas all of those roadrunner cartoons suddenly made a lot more sense to me. There was very little vegetation and lots of wide open spaces. Since I am from a plains state it was nice to see the Southwest firsthand. The heat was intense, but the scenery was amazing.

Boston was nice to me because it’s an old city just like Chicago. The whole city has character. My hotel was in Cambridge, so I had colleges in every direction. That made it easy to find food, but things were quite in the summer. I did have a nice view of the Charles though. I really want to go back here and have some real fun.

I also had a couple of brushes with minor celebrities since my last post:
Willie from Making The Band 4
Cuban Link dancing on the bar

Overall I’m glad to be back home. I’m looking forward to HIN Nightshift, Nopi Drift, and the Midwest VW Treffen.
