I recently went to a toy drive for Toys For Tots in the West Town neighborhood of Chicago. The toy drive was organized by Checkeditout Chicago and took place at two different locations. Checkeditout is focused on Porsche enthusiasts, but this event was open to all. This toy drive started in Burdi Clothing in Hinsdale, and ended at Midwest Performance Cars (MPC) in Chicago.
I couldn’t make it to the stop in Hinsdale, but the group in Chicago was pretty nice. This area in West Town is mostly quiet industrial buildings. I used to see vintage Porsches parked outside MPC when driving down Lake Street. When I started to see Porsches while driving to the new location on Fulton, I knew I was headed in the right direction. There were some really nice 991s that I saw early on. An all-black GT3 and gold Turbo S drew a lot of attention. MPC is known for work on classic Porsches, so many of those were also in attendance.
The new location of MPC was impressive. The shop looked immaculate, but maybe that wasn’t because it hasn’t had a bunch of old European cars leaking fluid on the floors. The toy drive was a success though. There were so many toys collected that they started to crowd the entrance of MPC. I’m hoping our gifts help out some kids that have had to deal with this rough year. If you’re interested in seeing the other pics from that day follow this link: Toy Drive – December 5, 2020
