Autobahn Country Club
Drift Day 14/Midwest Cup Series Round 1 was held on April 15th at the Go Kart Track at the Autobahn Country Club. 40 cars were allowed to enter this event. Most of the participants were driving 90's Nissans, mainly because the 240SX is cheap, rear wheel drive, and has many different options for performance parts. The racers were judged based on their entry, speed, and angle at which they took corners as well as the driver's ability to hit the clipping points. The style of the drift also went into how the driver's were judged. Unlike most races, this competition wasn't about how quickly you got through the course, but instead how well you maintained control of the vehicle.
Keith Schoeler was awarded 3rd place after beating Rob Riter and his black Miata in a tandem battle. The day's points winner was Brian Peter. Peter bested Simba Nyemba in a tandem battle for first place and took home the top prizes. You can see a pic of the top four during the awards ceremony here, and you can find more on the ClubFR points standings here.
This was a very fun event and I'd recommend it to anyone that asked. I have well over 100 pictures of these cars in the event as well as some pictures of cars on the other tracks.
