I was driving back from a meeting yesterday when I spotted this blue Oldsmobile Super 88. I initially planned to come back on another day to see if the car was still there. My camera was on me, and it was golden hour, so I had to pull over and take some pics of this classic car.

The car had a for sale sign on, and looked like it hadn’t been moved in a while. The large grill of the car still gave it a commanding presence. The car was down, but it still looked like it would outlast many cars half its age. It was just waiting on the next person to take ownership.

One thing you notice about this car was the extensive use of chrome trim. GM was anything but subtle when designing this car. The rear tail fins and the trunk emblems are just part of the car’s futurist design.

The chrome trim on the front fender is even more striking. The pieces form a point that extends to the front doors. The raised Oldsmobile letters on the hood are another unique element. I really loved how the shot below exaggerates the front fender.

Goose Island still has plenty of signs of its industrial past, so it makes for a great backdrop when shooting a classic car. The presence of the Sears Tower in the background really seals the deal.
