The 2020 Auto Show was fun, but I was disappointed that manufacturers like Mercedes-Benz and BMW were not on display. There were still some nice new models there. It has also been the only car show I’ve made it so far this year. I wanted to highlight some of my favorite car below, but you can see all of my pics from the show here: https://benlevy.com/auto/show/cas2020/

I thought the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 was one of the coolest cars around when it was introduced. The car is track-focused, has an engine from a 911, and a manual transmission. Cars like this are pretty rare, so I did not think Porsche would do it again, but the new GT4 still packs the six-cylinder engine. It really looks like Porsche stressed every detail on this car.

Porsche’s all-electric Taycan was getting a lot of attention at the show. As far as styling, they took the same approach as the Panamera and tried to make a big sedan that still uses Porsche styling cues. The model they had on display was a top-of the line Taycan Turbo S. The car has a massive presence and the wheels really show off the huge brakes.

Lexus brought a RC F Track Edition back out this year. This car doesn’t get talked about much, but it is a very powerful alternative to compact performance cars from the German manufacturers. The weight savings from things like the carbon fiber hood and the forged wheels are nice, but the 5.0L V8 really helps it keep up with the competition.

I have a hard time keeping up with all of Dodge’s special editions, but they did have some nice ones on display. The Anniversary Edition Challenger looked so muscular with the wide fenders and the eye-catching paint.

There were a couple of Lamborghinis at the supercar section. Lamborghini Aventador SVJ was getting the most attention. The car is an exercise in excess. They can make faster cars, but this one needs to be extra wide and have 12 cylinders. When you swing the doors up, people know that money is no object to you.

This picture of the Aston Martin Vantage was one of my favorite from the show. Aston Martin’s styling stagnated years ago, but this Vantage is really sharp. This car has smoother lines, that look organic, but it is still distinctly an Aston Martin. These are still the classiest cars on the road.

One of the last cars I saw was the C8 Corvette. The car looks nice, but it doesn’t have the same presence. It almost looks like a smaller car in the mid-engine arrangement.

The Ford GT isn’t a new model, but the Ford GT Carbon Liquid was nice to see. This car features only a clear coat so it can show of the Ford GT’s carbon fiber weave. The carbon fiber wheels probably cost more than my car.

Toyota had a few Supras on display, and I think my favorite was the HyperBoost Edition. Not really a fan of the red wheels, but the wide-body and big spoiler reminded me of some of my favorite Supras from the past.
